Twitter suspends 104 accounts that 'artificially amplified' user conversations on contentious issues

Twitter took down an Iran-based network of accounts used to instigate and amplify the tensions that erupted in the United States after the death of George Floyd, an unarmed African American, during a brutal police arrest in May.

According to Thursday's report in the company's blog, the network, which included over 100 accounts, "artificially amplified" the user exchanges on various subjects linked with Floyd's death and the Black Lives Matter movement.

Twitter said most of the accounts associated with the network were compromised, and the company was in most cases able to restore their original ownership. Read more at i24
