The United States will play a facilitating role during the negotiations, which are set for next week

The Iranian-backed terrorist organization Hezbollah said on Thursday that indirect negotiations between Lebanon and Israel next week concerning maritime borders does not equate to normalization talks with the Jewish state. 

Last week, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri announced that an agreement to enter into UN-mediated talks with Israel had been reached in a move hailed by the US as a major breakthrough.  

But the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc, Hezbollah’s political wing, made clear in a press release Thursday that Beirut does not have an interest in expanding talks beyond the maritime dispute.

“Despite all the talk that has been going around, the negotiating framework deals with our southern maritime borders and reclaiming our land, so as to delineate our national sovereignty."

“It has absolutely nothing to do with ‘reconciling’ with the rapacious Zionist enemy, nor with the normalization that some Arab countries have adopted,” the bloc added, referring to the historic Abraham Accords, signed between Israel and Gulf neighbors Bahrain and the UAE on September 15.
