Dear JCC Community,

In light of Governor Hogan’s announcement yesterday regarding the next phase of the coronavirus response, the JCC of Greater Baltimore has made some difficult decisions to further ensure the health and wellness of our members and guests.

Sunday, March 15 – Saturday, March 22

We will closely monitor the evolving situation and make additional decisions when necessary.

Center for Sports & Wellness

Hours of Operation— As of today, both the Rosenbloom Owings Mills JCC and Weinberg Park Heights JCC will continue to open at 5:30am but will close at 9pm in the evenings (Monday through Thursday) to allow for a more extensive cleaning and sanitizing of the fitness centers, locker rooms, bathrooms, group fitness studios and other common areas.  This change is effective beginning Monday, March 16.

Group Fitness--Group Fitness class schedules will be offered on a modified basis. As soon as the schedule is available, we will send a text with a link to the new schedule.

Babysitting--No babysitting will be available during this time.

Senior Adult Fitness—All senior adult fitness classes including Senior Water Aerobics have been suspended until further notice.

Center for Youth & Families

Early Learning Centers--Both the Stoler Early Learning Center and the Meyerhoff Early Learning Centers will be closed from Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20.  Given the nature of this pandemic, we will make decisions regarding additional closures no later than Thursday, March 19.

DBJCC---Closed for the week beginning Sunday, March 15 through Friday, March 20.

J Around Town—Tot Time is cancelled for Wednesday, March 18th at the Shoppes at Kenilworth.

  • Children’s Theatre Production Company rehearsals are cancelled this week and the show is postponed.  The new date will be announced in the coming weeks.
  • Kid’s Center After-School programs are cancelled.
  • All J Kids after-school programs including tennis, CSA Martial Arts and dance are cancelled.
  • Swim team practice will not be held.
  • J Town at the Weinberg Park Heights JCC is closed.
  • Babysitting (at both buildings) will not be available.

Center for Arts & Culture

Gordon Center For Performing Arts--All performances and events taking place in the Gordon Center have been postponed through March 30.  This includes Gordon Center performances, J Live at the Gordon, and all rentals.  The Baltimore Jewish Film Festival scheduled for April 23 through May 19, has also been postponed until late June.  New dates will be announced early next week.

Adult Enrichment--We are also canceling all adult enrichment classes at both JCCs from Monday, March 16 through Friday, March 20.

Our emergency response team is monitoring the situation on daily basis and following CDC guidelines related to critical preventive measures and travel restrictions.  We deeply appreciate your commitment to washing your hands regularly, avoiding handshaking and giving hugs for the time being.  Remember—if you are NOT feeling well, have a fever or a cough, please stay home and take care of yourself.  We are asking our staff to do the same.  This is critical to reducing the spread of this virus.

At this difficult time, we appreciate your trust in us as we strive to make our JCC accessible for our community. We will get through this challenging time together as a community.

Wishing you and your family a healthy and peaceful weekend.

Shabbat shalom,

Randi Buergenthal, Chair of the Board
