Baltimore, MD - Mar. 28, 2019 - Ohr Chadash Academy (OCA) is excited to announce that Tzipora Einbinder (7th Grade) and Jonathan Rosen (8th Grade) have qualified for the national finals of the Chidon HaTanach.  The Chidon HaTanach (National Bible Contest) is sponsored by the Jewish Agency for American Jewish Youth in grades 6-11.  This contest tests students on the details of stories from different books of Tanach.

Under the guidance of Rabbi Mordechai Abrahams, 13 OCA middle school students worked hard to prepare for the Chidon HaTanach evaluation.  The group met once a week for 75 minutes from September to March covering 4 chapters of Tanach each week.  Students reviewed the material at home between study sessions.  In total, the OCA Chidon HaTanach group learned 60 chapters from Tanach in Chumash, Navi, and Ketuvim. All participating Chidon HaTanach students took 3 tests over the course of the year to determine which students would qualify for the national finals.  OCA was thrilled to learn that in its first year of participating in the Chidon HaTanach program two students qualified for the next round.

Tzipora and Jonathan will join approximately 200 other high scorers from around the country on May 5 in New York to participate in the national finals. They will continue to review the material they have already covered and expand their breadth of Tanach knowledge until that date when they will be tested again.  Four champions from the national finals will represent the USA in the 2020 International contest in Jerusalem on Yom Haazatmaut.  OCA wishes a big Yasher Koach to all Chidon HaTanch students and wishes Tzipora and Jonathan well on their next step in this prestigious competition.
