This Sunday, May 13, 2018, at 8:00 AM, Race Against Abuse Will Raise Funds And Awareness About Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault And Elder Abuse In Baltimore
The course will run through the scenic NCR trail in White Hall, Maryland. Participants can choose between a 10K or a 1.8 mile fun run.Runners, walkers and CHANA supporters are coming together on Mother’s Day to run in CHANA’s Race Against Abuse, 10K and Family Fun Run.
CHANA, a program of The Associated: Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore, for over 20 years, has been caring for people in the Baltimore area who have experienced intimate partner violence, sexual trauma or elder abuse. Amy Baum, Race Against Abuse Chair, first conceived of the idea for a charity race last year as a way to recognize her mother, CHANA’s former prevention educator and strong advocate, who passed away in November, 2016. “I believe that the cause we are supporting is so important, particularly with everything in the world that has been going on, and the revelations about sexual harassment and the establishment of the #MeToo movement. I’m hoping that CHANA’s Race Against Abuse will be the beginning of something really big,” Baum said.
Each registered participant will receive a long-sleeved performance T-shirt and sponsor bag. Music and refreshments will be available throughout the morning and awards will be handed out to top runners.
CHANA provides confidential, supportive crisis intervention, education and consultation to help people heal and take the next step toward recovery.
