Baltimore City Commissioner of Health Dr. Letitia Dzirasa is asking everyone to wear a mask in public indoor spaces regardless of COVID vaccination status. She says she's basing her recommendation on increases in COVID transmission in the city.

"While this is not a mandate, it is a clear warning that we need to make some changes to ensure the safety of the community, especially our immunocompromised, our older adults and young children who are not yet eligible to be vaccinated," said Dr. Dzirasa.

According to the health commissioner, Baltimore City has seen a 243% rise in cases and a 28% increase in hospitalizations over the past 28 days. Statewide, the COVID-testing positivity rate lept to 6.22%. 36 people were hospitalized with COVID during the past 24 hours and 10 people died from the disease.

"While this certainly pales in comparison to what we saw during the peak of the beginning of this year, this new data does indicate that Baltimore City, like other similarly sized jurisdictions around the country, is seeing a stark increase in case rates," said Dr. Dzirasa.... Read More: FOX45
