Baltimore, MD - Jan. 24, 2023 - Seven Mile Market just sent the following to its customers:

We would like to update to our valued customers following a zoom meeting together with Market Maven, community leaders and Councilman Izzy Patoka regarding the proposed plastic bag ban.

Based on our meeting, there has been no change in the progression of the proposed ban, and as of now it is still moving forward. For anyone who is negatively affected by the ban, please be informed that unless you are more vocal, the immediate impact of the ban will be that you will no longer receive free bags at checkout to carry your purchases to your vehicle and into your home. You will also therefore, not have these bags available to you in your home to recycle for all your personal and home uses. You will now need to purchase any plastic bags you may need for personal or home use.

Any consumer concerns that were raised, whether cost or health related, to date, do not seem to have impacted the progression of the ban. But there is still a little bit of time left. The final meeting of the council on this topic, before it goes to vote, is January 31st. If this is issue is important to you, NOW is the last chance to make your voice heard. Please call or email Councilman Izzy Patoka’s office to express your feelings. A brief phone call or email goes a long way. Please find contact info below.
