BJL checked compliance as the lockdown was to begin in Jerusalem and the sun was setting. The traffic was heavy as people headed home. Drivers appeared anxious honking horns at the slightest provocation.

Protests are one of the things still allowed under the new restrictions. Near the Prime Minister's Residence, the anti-government group was present on the sidewalk as usual for the past months.

In Mamilla Mall the main stores were closed, while the food and eyeglasses shops were open. Restaurants have been closed, but take out food is available.

The nearly full moon shown over Jaffa Road and Safra Municipal Square, all quieting down after dark.

The Israeli health care system with its four major HMOs is one of the best in the world to provide services efficiently under this current crisis and administer corona vaccines. The army experience and use of the Home Front Command are also important. The Dan Panorama Hotel in Jerusalem and others have been put into use for corona isolation of those entering the country and needing quarantine. Other hotels have been set aside for those with less severe illness who cannot stay at home.

In the spring, Sheba Hospital was the first in Israel to receive and treat patients with the novel coronavirus from the stricken cruise ship off of the Japanese coast. Presently officials from Sheba are working to provide special vaccinations for survivors so they will not have to stand in line.

As other countries are restricting and closing borders, we will see if the Israeli public will follow the new regulations and limitations. From personal experience, with the schools open, children and families are going for testing and in quarantine because of teachers and fellow students who have tested positive to the COVID-19.

The Green zones of Eliat and the Dead Sea have been closed. The attempt to keep people from meeting and transmitting the virus has closed museums and malls and now nature parks.

Israel is preparing for a two-week lockdown, but it could be extended and be longer if the number of cases does not go down sufficiently.
