STAFF ACCOUNTANT



CHAI: Comprehensive Housing and Assistance, Inc. has an immediate opening for a full-time experienced Staff Accountant to join the administration team. This person will be responsible for managing daily financial and accounting tasks, including preparing and maintaining financial statement, compiling reports, and preparing balance sheets and will support the Senior Accountant and CFO/COO as needed.





What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

Manage and reconcile accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payment of invoices, confirming all supporting documentation and gathering appropriate signatures
Update financial records using the agency accounting software
Prepare quarterly financial reports, working with program management as needed
Prepare reports on development spending as requested
Analyze financial statements and prepare balance sheets
Process general ledger transactions and post entries
Reconcile all credit card purchases to monthly statements
Perform bank account reconciliations accurately and efficiently
Assist with collecting vendor W9’s and participate in the expense reporting process
Assist in preparation of grant budgets, department budgets, financial models and other projects as needed
Support CHAI’s loan program as needed
What You’ll Need (Minimum Qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in accounting, finance or related field
1-3 years’ experience in professional accounting or equivalent education or internship experience
Experience working at a nonprofit organization a plus
Strong understanding of accounting principles, knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Must work well in a fast-paced, team-focused environment

Proficient use of Microsoft Office suite and comfortable working with various technologies and software
Able to be present in the office and work remotely, as appropriate


Salary range is approximately $47,000-$50,000. Salary will be based on qualifications and skills.
