Israeli PM reiterates government wish to avoid lockdown, says plan for holidays to be presented soon

Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lambasted the opposition leaders, saying they are “leading to anarchy” due to numerous calls not to adhere to government instructions in the battle against the coronavirus spread.

“Unfortunately politicians are exploiting the situation for political needs by calling not to follow instructions,” Netanyahu said in an address to the media in the city of Ramla after concluding a visit at the IDF Home Front Command quarters tasked with managing the pandemic.

“Dangerous and irresponsible statements by public representatives could lead to disobedience to Health Ministry and Israel Police instructions -- and as a result, to a loss of lives,” the Israeli premier wrote in a letter sent to lawmakers Naftali Bennett, Yair Lapid, Ayman Odeh and Avigdor Liberman, according to outlet Haaretz.
