Second pilot critically injured in reported helicopter crash.

An Israeli Air Force pilot was killed Monday evening when an Apache aircraft crashed during a training accident in Mitzpeh Ramon in the Negev.

The deceased pilot was a major in the air force. A second pilot, a colonel, was critically injured.

The crash occurred at 9:01 p.m. during a training flight. They reported about a technical malfunction and moments later crashed inside the base.

The uncle of the deceased pilot was also killed during his service in the Israel Air FOrcewhen he was an air force man.

A senior military team has been appointed to investigate the circumstances of the crash. The commander of the Air Force has ordered that the entire array of Apache helicopters be grounded.

The families of the victims have been informed.
