Weekday Downtown Road Closures for Monday, December 29th Through Friday, January 2nd, 2025

Baltimore, MD - Dec. 27, 2025 - The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BCDOT) would like to advise motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians of the tentatively scheduled weekday lane and road closures for the following activities in the downtown area.
Motorists are encouraged to download the Waze.com app for live detour navigation.
All activities are weather permitting and times are approximate. The BCDOT is not responsible for providing status updates and this list may not be comprehensive of all roadwork in the downtown area.
Downtown lane closures scheduled for the week of December 29 - January 2nd, 2025, include:
- Baltimore Street eastbound left lane closures at Eutaw Street daily from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
- Eutaw Street southbound right lane closures at Baltimore Street daily from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
- Guilford Avenue southbound left lane closure at Baltimore Street daily from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
- Guilford Avenue lane closure (full time) between Preston and Biddle Streets (BGE pipeline project).
- Guilford Avenue reduced to one travel lane (full time) between E. Lexington and E. Fayette Streets.
- Monument Street lane closure (full time) between Guilford Avenue and N. Calvert Street (BGE pipeline project).
- Maryland Avenue reduced to one travel lane (full time) between I-83 and Oliver Street (BGE pipeline project).
- N. Charles Street right lane closure (full time) between Saratoga and Pleasant Streets (utility work).
Commercial Vehicle Restrictions and Traffic Modifications for Baltimore's New Year's Eve Spectacular at the Inner Harbor
Commercial Vehicle Restrictions and road closures will be in effect for Baltimore's New Year’s Eve Spectacular at the Inner Harbor.
In preparation for the event, temporary commercial vehicle restrictions will be in effect from 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, until 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 01, 2026. During this time, commercial vehicles will not be permitted in the downtown / Inner Harbor areas of Baltimore City, except for local deliveries. Please note that tanker trailers will not be permitted downtown during this time, including those for local deliveries. This commercial vehicle restriction excludes cabs, buses and other mass transportation vehicles.
Motorists should pay strict attention to the commercial vehicle restrictions, road closures, and parking restrictions in effect on New Year’s Eve which will be strictly enforced.
The following streets will be affected by the temporary commercial vehicle restrictions:
- Fayette Street from Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to President Street (no commercial vehicles will be allowed to travel on or south of Fayette Street)
- President Street from Aliceanna Street to Fayette Street (no commercial vehicles will be allowed to travel on or west of President Street)
- Light Street from Pratt Street to Key Highway
- Key Highway from Light Street to McComas Street
- Hanover Street from McComas Street to Montgomery Street (no commercial vehicles will be allowed on or north of McComas Street, including Hanover Street)
- Pratt Street and Lombard Street from Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to President Street
In addition, the following streets will be closed from 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, until approximately 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 1, 2026:
- Pratt Street will be closed at Charles Street – Pratt Street traffic will be detoured north on Charles Street to continue east on Baltimore Street.
- Lombard Street will be closed at President Street – Lombard Street traffic will be detoured north on President Street to continue west on Fayette Street.
- Light Street will be closed at Lee Street – Light Street and Key Highway traffic will be detoured west onto Lee Street to continue north on Charles Street.
- Southbound Light Street will close at Lombard Street – Southbound Light Street traffic will be detoured west onto Lombard Street to continue south on Sharp Street.
- Eastbound Conway Street closed at I-395 – Northbound I-395 traffic at Conway Street will be detoured north onto Howard Street. No access will be allowed onto eastbound Conway Street.
The following parking restrictions will be in effect from 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, until 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 01, 2026:
- East side of Light Street from Lee to E. Conway Streets
- Gay Street from E. Pratt to E. Fayette Streets
- Calvert Street from E. Pratt to E. Fayette Streets
- Baltimore Street from S. Charles to S. Gay Streets
- South side of Key Highway from Light to William Streets
- West side of Charles Street from Pratt to Fayette Streets
Due to the large number of people expected in the downtown area for New Year’s Eve festivities, patrons attending the events are strongly encouraged to use public transportation.
Charm City Circulator Service Alert - The Charm City Circulator will be operating on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 (New Year's Eve) until 8:00 p.m. but will not be in operation on Thursday, January 1, 2026 (New Year's Day).
Motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians traveling in these areas should be on the watch for changing traffic patterns and are encouraged to use alternate routes.
