Plan for Extra Travel Time in Woodlawn Overnight (10 p.m. – 5 a.m.)
Baltimore, MD – Sept. 3, 2025 – The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration (MDOT SHA) will close and detour ramps at the I-695/I-70 interchange for routine bridge inspections on four nights this month. All work will take place overnight between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., weather permitting.
Ramp Closures & Detours:
Tuesday, Sept. 9: Ramp from NB I-695 (Inner Loop) to WB I-70.
Detour: NB I-695 to EB I-70 Local → U-turn at Park & Ride → WB I-70.
Wednesday, Sept. 10: Ramp from SB I-695 (Outer Loop) to EB I-70 Local/Park & Ride.
Detour: SB I-695 past I-70 → EB US 40 → U-turn at Kent Ave → WB US 40 → NB I-695 (Inner Loop) → EB I-70 (Local).
Tuesday, Sept. 23: Ramp from EB I-70 to NB I-695 (Inner Loop).
Detour: EB I-70 past I-695 → U-turn at Park & Ride → WB I-70 → NB I-695.
Wednesday, Sept. 24: Ramp from WB I-70 (Local) to SB I-695 (Inner Loop).
Detour: NB I-695 past MD 122 (Security Blvd) → WB MD 26 (Liberty Rd) → SB I-695.
What to Expect:
Crews will use digital message boards, traffic signs, and barrels to guide drivers.
Travelers should allow extra time and watch for others following detour routes.
In case of bad weather, closures will shift to the next available weeknight (Sunday–Thursday).
