President Donald Trump lashed out at Israel on Tuesday after Iran broke the ceasefire he brokered between the two countries.
According to the President, "Israel unloaded a lot, and now I just heard that Israel went out because they felt it (the ceasefire) was violated by one rocket that didn't land anywhere. That's not what we want, I tell you that."
While speaking with the press before leaving for the NATO summit, Trump expressed his frustrations, stating: "I'm not happy with Israel either."
He added: "I gotta get Israel to calm down now."
The President claimed that both Israel and Iran violated the ceasefire, but noted: "I don't think they did it intentionally, they couldn't bring people back.
He reiterated his anger with Israel's intention to retaliate against the violation and said he would try to stop it.
Trump also affirmed that Iran would never rebuild its nuclear program, at least not from Fordow.
He complained that Israel "dropped a load of bombs" after the ceasefire was agreed on but before it went into effect. "When I say 'you have 12 hours,' you don't go out in the first hour, just dropping everything you have on them."
"I'm not happy with them, I'm not happy with Iran either. But I'm really not happy if Israel's going out this morning because of one rocket that didn't land, but was shot, perhaps by mistake, that didn't land," he accused.
The President attacked: "We have two countries that have been fighting so long and so hard that they don't know what the f--- they are doing."
At the same time, Trump took to Truth Social to warn Israel, writing in all caps: "ISRAEL. DO NOT DROP THOSE BOMBS. IF YOU DO IT IS A MAJOR VIOLATION. BRING YOUR PILOTS HOME, NOW!"
An Israeli official expressed perplexity following Trump's remarks: "The Trump administration conveyed a message that Israel has the right to respond after Iran attacked. We're trying to understand the meaning of his latest remarks."
An official also confirmed that Israel would probably go ahead and retaliate against Iran despite Trump's warnings.
Following Trump's remarks, the President spoke on the phone with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
He then took to social media again, to announce: "Israel is not going to attack Iran. All planes will turn around and head home, while doing a friendly 'Plane Wave' to Iran. Nobody will be hurt; the Ceasefire is in effect! Thank you for your attention to this matter!"
A few minutes later, explosions were reported in northern Iran, with Israel confirming that it struck a target in the country.
