Jerusalem, Israel - Apr. 22, 2024  - Three pedestrians were hit at two different locations in the Romema neighborhood of Jerusalem on Monday morning, by what is believed to be the same vehicle.

One of the pedestrians was hit on Techeilet Mordechai Street, and the other on Yirmiyahu Street. The ramming on Techeilet Mordechai took place when a vehicle carrying terrorists sped towards a group of neighborhood residents burning hametz, or leavened foods, in a traditional pre-Passover ceremony.

The vehicle then drove off, escaping the scene.

Eyewitnesses told Arutz Sheva - Israel National News, "We were standing there and suddenly we saw a vehicle approaching quickly, ramming three of my friends. They continued and came out with weapons and tried to fire. We came here to burn hametz, we escaped to the synagogue."

Magen David Adom initially reported that medical teams were providing medical aid to the two victims at the scenes, both of whom had suffered light injuries.

"Two terrorists escaped on foot from the scene of the terror attack in Jerusalem, and on their escape route, homemade Carlo weapons were found," Israel Police said in a statement. "Two victims were evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center."

Shaare Zedek Medical Center reported that three victims of the attack arrived with light injuries. The hospital's trauma unit reported that it received a 20-year-old man, along with two teen boys, ages 18 and 15.

Accoring to Shaare Zedek, all three are expected to be released later on Monday morning.

Two of the victims, Menachem Mendel Fish and Yosef Yitzchak Hirschenbaum, said, "Thank G-d, we are healthy and whole, and we experienced a Passover miracle. We ask for unity in the nation of Israel and we wish a kosher, happy, and safe Passover to the entire People of Israel."

Security forces believe that the terrorists attempted to fire their weapons, but their firearms malfunctioned, and therefore were not used in the attack. Large numbers of police and Border Police forces searched the area for the suspects, and after approximately two hours succeeded in arresting them.
