Baltimore, MD - Dec. 21, 2023 - The Baltimore Planning Commission has unanimously approved zoning recommendations for the redevelopment of Baltimore's Inner Harbor, according to WMAR2News. The approval includes zoning changes at Harborplace, updates to the urban renewal plan to remove height restrictions, and a bill allowing Baltimore voters to decide on residential and off-street parking at Harborplace in the November 2024 ballot. The developer, MCB Real Estate, plans to replace pavilions with a luxury residential complex, add green space, stores, and restaurants, and redesign Pratt and Light streets. Public reactions to the proposal have been mixed, with concerns about rental saturation, parking, and retail access, while others see it as a new beginning for the area. The City Council will review the committee's recommendation.
