Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Mangoush has been suspended and is under investigation following her meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen in Italy, according to Jpost. This meeting occurred despite Libya and Israel not having established formal relations. Cohen viewed the meeting as an initial step towards building a relationship between the two nations, reflecting Israel's broader efforts to establish new diplomatic ties. Cohen emphasized the potential of the relationship, noting Libya's strategic value and discussing the significance of preserving Libyan Jewish heritage, which includes renovating synagogues and cemeteries. They also touched upon agricultural and water technology collaborations. Although this is the first foreign ministerial meeting between the two countries, there have been previous reported interactions between high-level Israeli and Libyan officials.
