Robert Bowers, the man responsible for the 2018 mass shooting at the Tree of Life synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where eleven people were killed in an antisemitic attack, has been sentenced to death, according to Arutz-7. The verdict was reached by the jury after deliberating for two days. Bowers was convicted on 63 counts and found to have a history of antisemitic comments on social media. During the attack, he carried three Glock pistols and an AR-15 rifle. The defense attempted to present a family history of mental illness as a reason not to impose the death penalty, but the prosecution argued that Bowers knowingly held white supremacist beliefs and was not suffering from psychosis. Following the verdict, Ronald S. Lauder, president of the World Jewish Congress, expressed that it brought a measure of justice for the victims and emphasized the importance of countering antisemitism in the United States.
