The German President's spokesman announced Saturday that French President Emmanuel Macron asked to postpone his visit to Germany, following the riots in the country.
More than 875 people were arrested Friday night and Saturday morning across France in continued riots sparked by the fatal shooting of a teenaged boy by police.
Macron returned to France earlier than planned from a visit to Brussels and convened an emergency meeting of the government in the afternoon to discuss the response to the violent protest.
French MP Meyer Habib commented on the riots: "It looks like an intifada in the heart of France! 249 police officers injured! France is burning! Nothing, not even the dramatic death of a young man, justifies this chaos! In these lost territories of the republic, hatred of France, hatred of whites and hatred of Jews has grown for years without disruption."
"Sara Halimi was punched for 20 minutes in front of 20 policemen. Her killer is almost free and no one rioted or burned anything. You have to love France! And if not, the minimum is to respect it - or to leave it."
President Macron has issued a call for parents to keep teenagers home to prevent them joining the riots, and asking users to be responsible with social media footage of the riots to prevent "copycat" riots starting in other areas.
Israel's Immigration and Absorption Minister Ofir Sofer commented on the vandalism of the Holocaust memorial in Paris durinng the riots. "The vandalism of the Holocaust memorial in Paris, by anti-Semitic rioters, is a horrific act that no sane person can accept. We will not accept any hatred and anti-Semitism against Jews. After my visit to France last week, I am in continuous contact with the heads of the Jewish community in the country and am updated on the complex events."
