On May 6, oil from Eretz Yisrael  will be used in the crowning ceremony of King Charles III and Queen Camilla, reports JNS. The oil, consecrated in Jerusalem’s Old City at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, is made from olives from the Mount of Olives. Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, has highlighted the "deep historic link" between the oil that will be used for King Charles's crowning and that used for biblical kings. Rabbi Nechemia Coopersmith explains that in Judaism, anointing with oil signifies the endowment of Divine power, authority, and blessings upon the new king.
