For the first time ever thousands of students can drink water-from-air thanks to Watergen’s advanced water generators spread throughout the Reichman University campus

Lack of drinking water is one of the devastating consequences of global warming. Producing drinking water from the moisture in the air is one of the most important and innovative water production solutions available today, helping to cope with the escalating issue of falling drinking water levels worldwide. Watergen believes that within a decade from today, 50% of the world's population will live in areas without access to clean, fresh, and safe drinking water.

Watergen is a pioneering Israeli company that has become the world leader in this field. The company's solutions are the most efficient and cost-effective way of resolving the pressing issue of the shortage of drinking water, and are available anytime and anywhere. They also enable eliminating high-carbon supply chains and environmentally harmful plastic waste.

The technology Watergen offers enables producing clean drinking water anywhere in the world, and so prevents transmission of diseases that result from drinking from contaminated water sources. Water production takes place when the system filters the air that is pumped into it by blowers and brings it to the dew point (the temperature at which the air is saturated with water vapor, which is water’s gaseous state). The system then produces clean drinking water from the vaporous air, all within a significantly short period of time, guaranteeing greater efficiency and reduced energy use.

Reichman University, which opened the 2022 / 2023 academic year yesterday, will be a pioneer in academia and the first university in the world to use water-from-air technology.

Dr. Michael Mirilashvili, President of Watergen, said: "We work with many universities in Israel and around the world, and Reichman University will be the first that will be able to stop using plastic products thanks to our technology. All visitors, lecturers, and students will have the opportunity to drink the cleanest and healthiest water in the world. I am pleased that one of Israel’s leading higher education institutes trusts us and has chosen Watergen's water-from-air. Our technology makes it possible to produce the cleanest water in any environment, including urban environments."

Founding President and Chair, Prof. Uriel Reichman, said: "Thank you, Dr. Mirilashvili, our students will be the first in the world to drink good water-from-air. I would like to inform our students who are beginning to study sustainability this year, that in a year a graduate program will be established to handle the integrative management of water issues, energy solutions, and food sources. Apart from the technological elements, the program will deal with the proper utilization of natural resources while maintaining a balance between the various sources at the state level and at the global level. I wish you all a fascinating and meaningful school year ".
