Baltimore, MD – Sept. 6, 2022 - Representatives from area Shuls and community security organizations convened today at Bnai Jacob Shaarei Zion for the annual pre-Yom Tov security briefing arranged by Councilmen Isaac "Yitzy" Schleifer & Izzy Patoka.

The Councilmen have made community safety and security a priority and since taking office there has been a 10-fold increase in law enforcement coverage over the Yomim Tovim.

Today's briefing was attended by the highest-ranking officers of the Baltimore City & County Police Departments, namely Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael S. Harrison and Baltimore County Police Chief Melisa Hyatt as well as Baltimore County Executive “Johnny O” Olszewski and Delegate Dalya Attar. The officers relayed detailed information that is critical for the safety of the community during this very visible period of the Jewish calendar.

Those in attendance were incredibly supportive of the collaborative nature of the meeting. “We take a lot for granted” stated community advocate and Baltimore Shomrim Public Safety general counsel, Nate Willner. “To see elected officials, and the top cops from both the city and county come to a security briefing this morning is not something to take lightly. True public safety only occurs when there is strong police -community cooperation. We are grateful to be part of the public safety strategy.”
