Hezbollah confirms attempted attack

Israeli military on Saturday announced that it shot down three drones flown by the Hezbollah terrorist group that were headed toward a rig in the Karish gas field in Israel’s territorial waters.

Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it intercepted "three hostile UAVs which approached the airspace over Israel's economic waters."

Israel's Defense Minister Benny Gantz slammed the Iran-backed Shi'ite militia, saying in a statement that it was "preventing the state of Lebanon from reaching an agreement regarding maritime borders, which are critical to the economy and prosperity of the Lebanese nation."

Hezbollah acknowledged the launch of the three drones, saying that "On Saturday afternoon, three unarmed drones were launched towards the disputed Karish field for reconnaissance missions."

"The mission was accomplished," it added, without referring to the Israeli interception.

An Israeli source speaking on the condition of anonymity confirmed that the drones were unarmed.
