Amid the relentless violence in Baltimore, calls are growing louder for extra help.

Even city leaders are now saying more state intervention is needed. FOX45 spoke with a law enforcement expert on how this could save lives.

In just the last week the city saw a pregnant woman and her unborn baby targeted. City violence ripping the child's life apart before it even began.

The senseless violence has some asking what is the breaking point?

"Nobody wants to keep responding to someone being shot or a pregnant woman and a child being shot," says former FBI agent Dr. Tyrone Powers.

Doctors at Johns Hopkins made an emergency delivery of the baby Thursday. The child is fighting for its life.

At the shooting scene in east Baltimore that claimed the life of the baby's mother and father, city councilman Robert Stokes said Baltimore needs more help.

"We need to bring in our state troopers. We have to bring in additional resources because it’s every day now and it’s so blatant. They just don’t care, during the day time, night time," Stokes said.
