Rabbi Shmuel Silber Visits Our Ukrainian Brethren In Israel (Videos & Photos)

Dear Friends,

I hope this message finds you well. As I spoke about this past Shabbos, I had the privilege to spend a few days in Eretz Yisroel this past week. BH through OU Israel, I was privileged to teach Torah in several communities and used my time to see the plight of our brothers and sisters from Ukraine who escaped the ravages of war and were welcomed by the protective embrace of our Jewish homeland.

We visited several hotels in which the refugees are currently residing. We met people filled with emunah, hope, and optimism. At the same time, we met individuals overwhelmed, saddened, and broken by the upheaval. Most of those who fled left with a small suitcase and the clothing on their backs. With the money our Kehilla raised, we were able to purchase clothing, shoes, diapers, toiletries and even install a washing machine and dryer in one of the hotels (to allow families to do laundry on a constant basis).

We had the opportunity to meet many of these precious individuals and families. We were introduced to the Minister of Aliyah and Absorption, Pnina Tomano-Shata, and discussed ways in which private citizens and organizations can help with the plight of the refugees. I will not repeat everything I said on Shabbos – but will reiterate what an overwhelming experience it was.

There is so much to do. With the money our Kehilla donated - we made a difference. If you have not yet contributed to this worthy cause, I would urge you to do so. If you have already contributed but would like to give more – we will IYH put every dollar to good use, helping Am Yisroel who now find themselves in Eretz Yisroel.
