Baltimore, MD - Mar. 23, 2022 - Technology has increasingly become woven into the fabric of our lives. The proliferation and increasing sophistication of appliances, devices, and software provide ever greater convenience and comfort. Technology has even enriched our spiritual lives, with increased access to Shiurim and Seforim, as well as enabling incredible advances in the coordination of chessed activities and tzedaka projects. While we all appreciate how technology has improved our lives, in an honest moment, we must also acknowledge the challenges, side effects, and significant risks that come with it too.
Since its inception in 2016, TAG Baltimore has been saying KNOW to technology. TAG has created awareness of pertinent issues, and has educated schools, communal leaders, parents, and students. TAG provides nonjudgmental unique solutions based on the individualized preferences of the user in protecting and maintaining a quality home environment. TAG’s team of 15, led by Director Zev Steen, consists of volunteers constantly working to fulfill the objective of empowering people to utilize technology in a safe and optimal fashion.
For the past six years, TAG Baltimore has taken KNOW for an answer and has:
- Been the #1 resource for advice and recommendations about technology and devices in our community
- Had office hours twice a week to provide customized technology solutions and advice on all types of devices including computers, cellphones, tablets, gaming consoles, wifi enabled camaras, and wifi routers
- Provided continuous support via a 24/6 manned email hotline
- Created and distributed invaluable resources, such as a pre-purchasing guide to help outline ideal options and educate the consumer to enable them to make the best decisions for themselves and their families
- Held many community events to inform, empower, and provide solutions
- Utilized the global TAG network consisting of fifty-five offices in eleven countries to stay up-to-date on the most cutting-edge technology and tools available
In 2021 alone, TAG Baltimore provided over 1,000 consultations guiding individuals and families, worked with six local schools and Yeshivos to provide appropriate technology guidelines and helped install filters on over 750 devices. In 2022, we are on track to double the number of devices serviced.
As technology continues to become a part of every aspect of our lives, the demand for TAG services is increasing. Keeping up with the Baltimore community’s growing needs requires TAG to expand in size, effort and manpower. In the near future, TAG will be switching from being open twice a week to operating at full service, five nights a week, and enlarging the team to provide TAG services appropriately. Along with the new hours, TAG is planning to move to a new location to allow for a centralized base with better accessibility, making visits simple and convenient. The new larger office will allow for greater sensitivity for privacy and will open up opportunities for more community resources.
Because TAG operates at no cost to our clientele, we simply cannot meet the needs of our community without your help.
Our 48 hour TechKNOWlogy Expansion campaign will raise the funds needed to expand our capabilities as a community resource.
From 10 AM to 10 AM on March 27-29 your contribution will make you a partner in our mission and services within the Baltimore community.
TAG is more important than it has ever been, and we can only continue to serve Baltimore with your support.
KNOWledge is power.
