Baltimore, MD – Mar. 1, 2022  At the request of the Vaad HaRobbonim of Baltimore, a large representation of the Baltimore Orthodox community gathered Tuesday night at Shomrei Emunah to pour out our hearts in prayer for those caught in war in Ukraine. Virtually every shul and their Rav was represented, with almost every shul Rav and hundreds of community members in attendance. As many as a couple thousand more were estimated to have participated via the BJL live broadcast.

HaRav Yaakov Hopfer, the President of the Vaad HaRobbonim, introduced the program by reminding the assembled that all Jews are one entity, and danger for anyone or any group is felt by the entire Jewish people. He pointed out that when we gather together, with achdus, to beseech Hashem for the fate of our brothers and sisters, we are proclaiming to Hashem our recognition of this unity of Klal Yisroel; we are demonstrating our feeling of being one with each other. This creates tremendous merits.

The paragraphs of Tehillim were led by various Robbonim, representing the diversity of orthodox shuls in this beautiful, unified community.

The community was honored to have one of the kapitlach Tehilim led by Reb Shimon Brook of Yerushalayim. Reb Brook runs Menorah, a kiruv organization in Belarus, which helps the resident Jews to secure their needs for things such as for Brissim, Matzos and wine for Pesach, etc.

The Asifa concluded with fervent, rousing singing of Acheinu and Ani Maamin.

May all of Klal Yisroel’s prayers be answered very soon.
