The Waterbury community was introduced to Rabbi Ari Weisenfeld, the new director of Agudah’s Connecticut office, at an event hosted by Yeshivas Ateres Shmuel of Waterbury, to hear about the goals and vision of the new office.
Rabbi Ahron Kaufman, Rosh HaYeshiva of Yeshivas Ateres Shmuel, stressed in his remarks that the uniqueness of Agudas Yisroel is its commitment to following the direction of the Torah leaders of the generation. He noted that it was particularly appropriate that the new state office for the Agudah was located in Waterbury, because the Waterbury community is guided by the Torah greats of today, and the traditions of yesteryear.
In his speech, Rabbi Chaim Dovid Zwiebel, executive vice president of Agudath Israel, emphasized that throughout its history, Agudas Yisroel has included everyone who wants to unite under the Torah and its leaders. Rabbi Zwiebel concluded by saying, “I have been extremely impressed by all the work Rabbi Weisenfeld has done for the Agudah over the past four years, and look forward to seeing the work he will do on behalf of the Orthodox Jewish community in Connecticut.”
Rabbi Ari Weisenfeld delivered the closing remarks. He laid out the goals of the office and explained the benefits of having an Agudah office in the state. Rabbi Weisenfeld also spoke about getting involved with communal work. “The only prerequisite to working for the Jewish people is feeling a sense of responsibility for other Jews. If you have that, and you want to help Hashem’s children, you can be involved. There is a place for you in community issues and needs.”
