Man taken to hospital after falling into puddle of water in Ramle; woman rescued from vehicle in Netanya

winter storm over the weekend brought heavy rainfall to Israel, with severe flooding reported in the central part of the country, including in the coastal communities of Netanya, Bat Yam and Holon.

In Ramla, an 85-year-old man fell in a flooded area and was found lying unconscious by Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics, who reported that he was suffering from hypothermia. The man was transported to the Shamir Medical Center in Be'er Ya'akov where he was placed on a ventilator.

An elderly woman was rescued from her vehicle amid rising waters in Netanya, where at least one underground parking lot was underwater.

Streets were blocked in Bat Yam and Holon from the flooding.

On Route 443 in the direction of Jerusalem, a 20-year-old motorcyclist slipped on the wet pavement and was killed, according to Ynet News.

The system was expected to weaken on Sunday, with the danger of flooding in coastal areas still present.

The rain is forecasted to end on Monday with dryer and warmer conditions the rest of the week.
