The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is offering two rewards of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for 2 separate antisemitic attacks reported in the last few days. The first attack occurred on the Eastern Parkway between Nostrand and Rogers on November 3. A pregnant Jewish woman was accosted by an assailant who attempted to strike her and threw a bottle at her.
“We are appalled and outraged by the vileness of this attack,” said Scott Richman, ADL NY/NJ Regional Director.
“ADL is offering this award to send the unmistakable message that hate-motivated violence and harassment is unacceptable. No one should be threatened by attack while going about their daily life.”
The ADL offered a similar reward for the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for the alleged antisemitic assault of a Jewish man in Crown Heights, Brooklyn on Thursday evening, November 11th. The man was walking on Empire Boulevard towards Albany Avenue when he was approached by a group of black males wearing backpacks. One of them punched the victim in the face, knocking his glasses off and called him a “dirty Jew.”
Richman said that “We are once again reeling in the wake of a possible antisemitic attack in Crown Heights.
“These incidents have a profound impact on the entire community – causing trauma, fear, and substantial distress. We want all New Yorkers to know that these acts will not be tolerated or ignored. We hope that this reward will bring about information that will lead to a swift arrest.”
