The following has been cleared for publication:

Saliman Kasab, 29, a resident of Khan Yunis who was in Israel illegally, was arrested on 12 October 2021 in a joint Israeli Security Agency (ISA)-Israel Police operation.

Kasab entered Israel in January 2020 on a humanitarian permit to accompany his mother, who was being treated in Judea and Samaria for a serious illness. Upon completion of the treatment, Kasab took advantage of the permit and remained in Israel illegally.

In the course of the ISA investigation, it was learned that on 30 September 2021 and 4 October 2021, Kasab perpetrated arson attacks in Ramle on sukkot and buses. It was also learned that the 'Shahada Al-Aqsa' organization worked with Kasab on the carrying out of severe attacks in Israel (kidnappings, bombings and shooting attacks) and that Kasab was due to receive weaponry to these ends; however, up until his arrest, he had received only funds from the organization.

The State Attorney (Central District) filed a severe indictment against Kasab today (Monday, 1 November 2021).

The foregoing joins previous arrests of residents of the Gaza Strip who entered Israel on humanitarian grounds and were recruited to carry out terrorist attacks inside Israel, and emphasizes the latent threat of persons present in Israel illegally.

The ISA and the Israel Police will take determined action to locate and thwart any element that acts to undermine stability in Jewish-Arab cities and attack the security of the state and its citizens.
