All details concerning the suspect's identity and alleged crimes remain under a gag order

Israel's State Prosecutor's Office announced on Thursday that an Israeli citizen suspected of committing grave security offenses will be indicted shortly.

The suspect, whose identity is under a gag order, has been under investigation by the Shin Bet security agency for several weeks.

All details concerning the suspect's alleged crimes likewise remain under a gag order.

According to Shin Bet's statement, investigators denied the suspect his right to meet with legal counsel due to a "risk to national security" posed by his activities.

Earlier Thursday, the Beersheba District Court ruled the suspect's remand be extended until Friday; however, Justice Eliyahu Bitan criticized Shin Bet's investigation, saying that the continued detention of the suspect was most likely due to lack of a strong case.

The suspect's lawyers said that "dramatic media headlines notwithstanding, this is a case that will go out with a whimper. Our client is a loyal citizen of the State of Israel."
