The Palestinian Authority admitted on Tuesday that 10 percent of the 12,000 doses it has recently obtained were used to immunize athletes, government officials, and senior members of the executive committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

According to the Thomson Reuters news agency, the PA also said that it has transferred 200 vaccine doses to Jordan following a request from Amman.

At least "200 doses were sent to the Jordanian royal court after a request from them and with the approval of PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas," the Palestinian Health Ministry said in a statement.

The ministry also revealed that "the football team needed vaccination certificates due to a trip abroad in order to represent Palestine at an upcoming match."

The revelations have reportedly infuriated many Palestinian civilians, with many still waiting for a general vaccination campaign to be launched in the West Bank.
