Complex dating to 1200-1000 BCE believed by some to be Joshua's altar described in Bible
The altar of Mount Ebal in the West Bank, dating back more than 3,000 years, was restored Thursday after it was partially damaged during road work conducted by the Palestinian Authority, outlet N12 reported.
The report said that settler youth of the Shomron Regional Council arrived at the archaeological site earlier in the day and restored a part of the wall with local rocks.
An Israel Defense Forces (IDF) unit has contacted the mayor of the nearby Palestinian city, Asira ash-Shamaliya, who replied by stressing that the road workers were not aware it was a heritage site. Read more at i24
