Former Baltimore City Mayor Catherine Pugh Seeks Clemency From President Donald Trump

Former Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh is seeking clemency from President Donald Trump.

According to the U.S. Department of Justice website, Pugh's request to have her three-year prison sentence commuted is pending. Trump is expected to issue about 100 pardons and commutations before he leaves office Wednesday.

Pugh entered a guilty plea Nov. 21, 2019, to four of the 11 federal charges filed against her -- fraud and tax evasion charges. She resigned from office in May 2019.

Pugh was sentenced in February 2020 to three years in federal prison and three years of probation. The U.S. District Court judge ordered Pugh to pay $400,000 in restitution and forfeit nearly $700,000. Pugh's federal prison term was postponed until the state case against her was adjudicated.
