Morocco Sends Non-Official Delegation To Israel Sunday

The North African country is the fourth nation to normalize ties with the Jewish state this year

In a statement sent to i24NEWS, Morocco's Foreign Ministry denied Israeli media reports that a normalization delegation was arriving in the Jewish state on Sunday, insisting that it was only a logistics team with no diplomatic authority.

Israeli media outlet Walla was the first to report that a normalization delegation was being sent to Israel as part of comprehensive peace talks with Rabat after the two sides agreed to a US-brokered normalization agreement on December 10. 

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel and Morocco will hold diplomatic talks in the coming days in order to launch direct flights between the two countries and establish embassies.

The Israeli premier also said he held "a very warm, exciting conversation" with Morocco's King Mohammed VI, and invited the monarch to make an official visit to the Jewish state in the coming months. Read more at i24
