Turkish president says intelligence cooperation with Israel ongoing despite recent chill in ties
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Friday that Ankara would want to have better ties with the Jewish state.
When talking to the media in Istanbul following the Friday prayers, Erdogan also said that the two countries still cooperated in the intelligence field.
At the same time, the Turkish leader, who is posturing as a defender of Palestinian rights, took a jab at the Israeli authorities.

“We are having issues with people at the top level,” he said, as cited by Reuters, adding that the relations between the two nations may have been different if Israel had different leaders.
Erdogan also lambasted Israel's current policy on the Palestinians as unacceptable.
Turkey was the first Muslim-majority nation to recognize the nascent Jewish state in 1949, paving the way for amicable ties, but under Erdogan, the relations between the two states turned sour. Read more at i24
