US Lawmaker Warns Sale of F-35 Jet To UAE Could 'Compromise' Israel's Security

US Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) warned on Tuesday that the possible sale of F-35 fighter jets to the United Arab Emirates could endanger Israel's national security, according to The Jerusalem Post.

The representative further added that such a transaction "would compromise the qualitative military advantage of the Jewish state," arguing that the F-35 has "unique capabilities that should be reserved for Israel's sole use." 

"The UAE is a country to which thousands of Iranians travel regularly, especially intelligence agents, who will seek to obtain sensitive information on these planes," she continued.

"Obviously having a more militarized region will not make it safer for Israel or for American interests," Wasserman Schultz concluded.

The highly controversial issue has been a point of contention and debate in Israel, and whether the sale of the highly advanced aircraft was part of a US-brokered peace deal between Israel and the UAE. Read more at i24
