QUEENS, NY (VosIzNeias) – With no leads in a post-Rosh Hashana burglary in an Orthodox Jewish neighborhood in Queens, the NYPD is reaching out to the Jewish community for assistance, hoping that someone can help them identify a suspect who robbed a home of $27,000 in cash and jewelry.

The NYPD told VIN News that the incident took place on the morning of October 3rd on 210th Street in Hollis Hills.

Police said that the suspect arrived in the area in a black Buick SUV and walked to the home from an unknown location, gaining access through a rear window that they believe was unlocked.

Once inside the home, the suspect entered a bedroom, taking $27,000 in cash, rings and bracelets before exiting through the same window, replacing the window screen before leaving the premises.

No one was home at the time of the burglary.

That particular section of Hollis Hills is predominantly Jewish and the suspect was last seen near the Hollis Hills Bayside Jewish Center which is also home to Yeshiva Primary, an elementary school geared towards transitioning students from public schools to yeshiva high schools.

Sources said that the suspect and his accomplice have likely been responsible for other burglaries in the area as well.

The suspect is identified as a male of unknown race wearing a camouflage pants, a black baseball cap and a black hooded jacket emblazoned on back with the words “Santa Cruz.” No information has been made available about the second suspect, the driver of the black Buick.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Crime Stoppers Hotline by phone at 800-577-TIPS, by text at 247637 (CRIMES) and then entering TIP577 or online at www.NYPDCrimeStoppers.com.
