A Brooklyn woman whose idling car was swiped off the street Thursday lied to cops that a 6-year-old child was inside — so they would try to find it faster, police said.

The 23-year-old woman had left her 2008 Chrysler Pacifica running while she went into a store on Farragut Road near East 48th Street in East Flatbush about 12:30 p.m., authorities said.

When the woman returned and discovered her car missing, she called police and told them there was a 6-year-old inside, police said. But when responding cops eventually found the vehicle, there was no child, authorities said.

The woman fabricated the story in an attempt to rush officers to the scene, officials said.

She was taken into custody shortly after, and charges are pending, police said. Read more at NY Post
