Baltimore, MD – Apr. 1, 2019 - BDE. With the passing of the Skulener Rebbe, ZTL, hundreds from the Baltimore community gathered at John Hopkins Hospital at short notice to be melave the Rebbe as he was taken out from the hospital after having been cared for here for the past 7 weeks.
Many thanks go to the Baltimore Police Department for their cooperation in closing off the street enabling the bakavodika procession and levayas hameis.
In the last 48 hours as the Rebbes condition deteriorated, Misaskim of MD were notified and put on stand-by as over 300 people came through to see the Rebbe for one last time. This evening at 5:54 PM, the Holy Rebbe of Skulen, ZTL, surrounded by his sons daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and many followers, passed away.
All this time Bikur Cholim of Baltimore and Jewish Caring Network/Tikva House serviced the family with great dedication.
Jewish Caring Networks Tikva House by Hopkins had the great zechus to host the Rebbes entire family and Gabbayim for these past 7 weeks. They provided housing hospitality and food. JCN also arranged for the Rebbe's daughter, Rebetzin Nechama Klughaupt to speak in the community several times to give chizuk to the women in our community .
Bikur Cholim of Baltimore Patient Advocacy division headed by Executive Director, Rabbi Pinchos Rabinowitz, coordinated and liaised with the hospital administration and hospital security for all the needs of the Rebbe and his family, including arranging for shutting down the light sensors on the steps for Shabbos use, as well as offering special attention for the multitudes of visitors at the ICU unit throughout the Rebbe’s stay.
In addition, throughout the Rebbe's stay, the Bikur Cholim hospitality room was used to the fullest 'round the clock. All this could not have been done without the outstanding efforts of dedicated volunteers who kept coming and going several times a day to keep the room completely stocked and who deserve a tremendous thank you.
It has been an honor and a z’chus for the Baltimore community to have been involved with this great Tzadik.
