Man Stabbed, Police Officer Attacked In Lakewood Town Hall Attack

Lakewood, NJ - A person was stabbed in a hallway of the Lakewood Municipal Building on Thursday morning, and a man is in custody following the attack, Lakewood police said.

The victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, but the injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening.

Police say that around 10:55 a.m. they were alerted via panic alarms of an issue in the municipal complex and were informed that an unidentified man was apparently acting disorderly.

When police arrived and started questioned the man, he stood up and, without warning, punched at least one officer in the eye, officials said.

Police allegedly recovered a folding knife that dislodged from the man’s waistband, which they believe was used in the earlier stabbing.

The identities of the victim and the suspect have not been released.

An investigation is ongoing.
