Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and President Isaac Herzog, this morning (Friday, 30 July 2021), at Chaim Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer, started the campaign to receive the third dose booster of the coronavirus vaccine.

President Herzog and his wife Michal received the third dose together.

Health Ministry Director General Prof. Nachman Ash, national coronavirus project director Prof. Salman Zarka, Chaim Sheba Medical Center Director Prof. Yitshak Kreiss and hospital staff also participated in the event.

Prime Minister Bennett then met with Chaim Sheba Medical Center experts including Prof. Arnon Afek, Prof, Galia Rahav, Prof. Gadi Segal, Dr. Itay Pesach, Dr, Sharon Amit, Dr. Galia Barkai.

Following is Prime Minister Bennett's statement to the media [translated from the Hebrew]:

"Good morning to everyone.

We are underway.

We are embarking on the vaccines campaign to safeguard the older population in the State of Israel. From today there is a new mitzvah: 'Vaccinate your father and your mother that they may live long.'

Israel is a pioneer in going ahead with the third dose for older people of the age of 60 and above. The fight against the COVID pandemic is a global fight. The only way we can defeat COVID is together. Together means sharing information. Together means sharing methods, technologies, insights and actionable steps. Israel is open to share all the information that we can gain from this bold move, and we're going to win – but together.
