Following Gov. Larry Hogan’s newer COVID-19 restrictions, Robert Lang spoke with Bob Atlas, President and CEO of the Hospital Association of Maryland, on the mandates, and the current states of hospitals.

Tuesday marked two weeks since daily coronavirus cases increased by 1,000 or more. It also marked more than 1,000 hospitalizations, the first time since June 7.

Atlas said “hospitals are definitely filling up,” and that the most challenging regions are in Western Maryland and the central region of Baltimore.

“We’re very concerned," Atlas said. "Our hospitals do have measures in place to be able to take in those patients, and to coordinate with one another to handle any overloads that any experience.”

He also made it clear that if a person needs medical help from the hospital, then they should go.

“Our hospitals are still taking care of all other patient needs.” Said Atlas. “Anybody who has a real need of medical care, not just for COVID, should not shy away from a hospitals… COVID is very serious, obviously, but so are so many other conditions that others have.” Read more at WBAL
