COVID-19 pandemic causes disruption in nursing homes as 'no real changes' made

More than 20 percent deaths caused by Alzheimer’s disease and dementia spiked over the course of the summer in the United States, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently said.

“There’s something wrong, there’s something going on and it needs to be sorted out,” chief of mortality statistics at the CDC Robert Anderson said as quoted by a Politico report on Wednesday. “This is highly unusual.”

Excess deaths not attributed to the COVID-19 disease have been initially registered in the early stages of the pandemic. Most were attributed to dementia, heart disease and pneumonia. Read more at i24
