Virus death toll rises to 1,108 since outbreak of pandemic

Israel’s coronavirus death toll rose to 1,108 on Sunday morning as the number of COVID-19 patients in serious condition climbed to a daily record of 513, new data by the Health Ministry showed.

There are currently 38,008 active cases across the country, among the 513 individuals in serious condition, 139 on artificial respirators, and 206 patients in moderate condition.

On Saturday, the Health Ministry recorded 2,715 infections in 24 hours and 653 new cases were detected since midnight Saturday.

Israel's morbidity rates have spiked upward in the last week, as the number of screening tests has climbed significantly as well. From an average of 25,000 tests per day, last week's average rose to approximately 45,000 tests. Read more at i24
