A pharmaceutical company has issued a nationwide recall for Xanax after it determined a “foreign substance” in the pills could be damaging to users of the anti-anxiety drug.

Mylan Pharmaceuticals said in the recall notice that there could be a chance of infection in the Alprazolam pills, which is sold by the brand name Xanax.

The recall affects tablets that were sold in the US from July to August, according to the notice.

The tablets affected are designated by lot number 8082708 and the national drug code is 0378-4003-05.

Mylan urged wholesalers to look for the potentially contaminated pills, writing in the notice that they should, “immediately examine your inventory, quarantine and discontinue distribution of these lots.”
