Maryland Commerce Secretary Kelly Schulz said Monday Maryland has disbursed or approved all of the nearly $150 million in state coronavirus relief grants and loans.

Schulz told C4 that of the 5,012 businesses approved for grants, 4,300 have had agreements sent to them. Comptroller Peter Franchot has disbursed roughly half of the $65 million in grant funding.

Of the $75 million in loan funding, $65 million was claimed in applications filed in late March, in the first two days the program was open.

She said all applicants for either program should check their email for information on whether they qualified or were too late.

"It has to come to my attention, though, that some businesses may have... multiple email addresses and sometime they may not check their spam," Schulz said.

Her office is also working with 13 informal advisory groups on what reopening will look like when the coronavirus crisis abates.

"We're very hopeful that we will have less compliance issues because we want to move further into stage 2 at some time in the near future and want to make sure businesses understand that as well," Schulz said. Read more at WBAL
