Baltimore, MD - May 14, 2023 - 9:09PM - Pratt Street between Greene Street and  Howard Street is Closed for Emergency Repairs Due to a Water Main Break and Steam Explosion. 

 If you are attending any events in the downtown area, expect traffic delays and please plan your trip accordingly.

The Baltimore City Department of Transportation would like to advise motorists that effective immediately the following road closures are in effect for the repair of a Water Main break and stream explosion along Pratt Street. Closures and Detours will be in place until the work is completed.

The following roads will be closed until further notice:

  • Pratt Street between Greene and Howard Street 
  • Eutaw Street between Pratt and Lombard Street

Detour in place: 

  • Martin Luther King Boulevard as the primary detour
  • Paca will remain open for Northbound Traffic 

The steam and Water Main break are located at the site of 401 W Pratt St. The Baltimore City Office of Emergency Management, Baltimore City Fire Department, Baltimore City Department of Transportation, Baltimore City Department of Public Works, UMD Management, Vicinity Steam Co & Safety BGE and the Convention Center are on location. 

Motorists traveling in this vicinity should be on the lookout for changing traffic patterns and are strongly encouraged to use an alternate route and Light Rail or Metro.
