Doug Emhoff, spouse of VP Kamala Harris, was deeply moved by his visit to the former Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp site, AP reports. He considers it an important aspect of his work combating antisemitism for the Biden administration. During his emotional visit, he saw children’s shoes and human hair stripped from victims before they were killed by Nazi Germany. He paid tribute to the victims, placed a candle at the ruins of the crematoria where hundreds of thousands of Jews were killed, and joined observances marking the 78th anniversary of the camp's liberation. To gain more knowledge about the fate of Jews in Europe, he also toured the Oskar Schindler Enamel Factory and saw an exhibit about Schindler's List, the 1,000 Jews saved by the German industrialist during the Holocaust.
